Christimas Is Coming

I love the seasons, I love the holidays, there's so much to celebrate and be thankful for. I'm fascinated by pictures of Santa, because of his bright colors and the happiness he brings, the anticipation, and the magic of childhood.

Winter Tree

I am suffering from not enough practice, and I don't think I'm improving on this one. Nothing realistic about it. This weekend it rained, and then it snowed, very windy, very cold, all the snow stuck to the trees and bushes, everything was white, light blue, gray, big gloppy flakes to little flakes that felt like pins pricking you in the face. Winter is here, and this is a winter tree.

Autumn is Over

I like my use of color. Autumn is almost over, but there are still colors to dazzle the eyes

More happy flowers for me and for you

Life Is a Process

Perfection will never be reached, and really how human would we be if that were possible. I need to remember to cut myself some slack, and remember, it's all just a process.

Affirmation Art

This may be silly, but I was feeling extremely low and struggling with self-worth, so I decided to do some affirmations in my art. Maybe it can help someone else feel better too.

Sleeping Pancho

Here is my little dog Pancho sleeping on the couch. I was very loose and not controlled when I did the line drawing, and it turned out much better than the drawing I did before, where I tried to be precise and perfect. I struggle to let go of my controlling tendencies. So, I painted it lightly in acrylics. You know me, I love color.

Cherry Pie

Here is one quick rendition of a delicious cherry pie and cherry soda that I enjoyed while visiting Mt. Horeb. We ate lunch at a restaurant that was in a Victorian house. We sat outside on the porch and ate our dessert first. I like doing that. Don't save the good stuff for later. Eat dessert first. Lately, I've been thinking about where I'd like to display my art. This would fall under the category of kitchen art.

Sunflower

Here's something sunny and bright to look at, when I'm not feeling sunny and bright. I've hung this one in my bedroom, because it's happy and calming at the same time.

Sundae In East Troy

I was going to paint again, a flower, but I came across my photos from Memorial Day. We went to East Troy and stopped at an old fashioned ice cream shop. I shared a sundae with my boyfriend. That was the inspiration for this little painting.

Fruit

Family and friends make great art critcs. My mom said there's an artsy truth to these fruits, (what?) my boyfriend said he likes the shading. I think they're colorful and fun. My friend Chris does pears all the time. I'm sure my pear isn't as good as her many pears !

Tiny Art

I got these cute little canvas trading cards. I'm not impressed here. I think I'm completely back tracking in my progress, and I just wasn't in the mood this evening and had no clear cut ideas. Here is Sutherland my other cat, and a spring tulip. Big whoop.

Herbert The Derbert

I love my cat Herbie. Apparently my purpose in life is to make sure that all his needs are met, a huge bowl of cat food available at all times, a clean littler box, and cat fountain, otherwise known as the leaky faucet in my bathtub. These are the things that he really enjoys.

People's Park Lemon

Took a photo of a lemon at People's Park, and here is my rendition of it in acrylic paint. My first thought was this is a dud of picture, but the more I look at it, the more I like it.

Sailboat

I went walking downtown today, hoping to find an art supply shop, but there wasn't any. I did walk into a couple galleries though. I bought some postcards with designs on them by Ann Windell. I love her flowers, but I thought her sailboats were good too. This is my attempt at imitating her. It was fun. I tried to "imitate" Van Gogh this morning, his Starry Night on the Rhone, oh my it sucked. I'm not going to show it here. I need to remember, I'm rusty, and I need to keep my images simple. Then, I do a better job.

Spring Tree

A picture by Klimt was the inspiration for this one. Doing a bunch of dots is fun.

Trees at Sunset

This canvass is the size of a bathroom tile. I got the idea looking at a photo that I took of the sunset through the trees off my boyfriend's back patio.

Flowers 29 Mar 10

My boyfriend gave me all sorts of canvasses for my birthday. This is a 3x5, very small, so I did some flowers. I took this picture with my new digital camera. This camera has a setting for close ups, but I had a heck of a time getting this picture in focus. I couldn't get as close as I wanted.

Windy Tress In a Field

I started this one Sunday night, but dinner time interrupted it, and then after dinner, it was time to snuggle on the couch and watch a movie. I quickly finished it tonight.

Psychosis, PMS, Depression

On Wednesday of this past week, I found myself journalling at work, trying to find answers about why I am the way I am. I didn't like myself that day. When I put the pen down and turned around, and my boyfriend was there with flowers and Cadbury chocolate eggs. Happy Birthday week to me. My birthday was on Friday. I instantly felt better, and I felt loved, and I felt the urgency of the here and now. Later that week, I saw a painting of Medusa, and used that as inspiration for how I had been feeling.

Winter Birds

I've tried to straighten out this picture, but it's a lost cause. I want to post, because I'm not drawing as much as I used to, but I want to show that I am still doing it. Here are my sideways winter birds.
