Okay, so I have a lot of things on my mind, and I wasn't really in the mood for finishing this one. But I knew I didn't want to work on it tomorrow either. I'm impatient today. I slapped big globs of paint on the paper in order to get this one done. Didn't try to practice working on shadows or light, or do anything skillful or fancy. I just wanted to get it done. It didn't photograph that well, but when I look at it in my kitchen, it grows on me. Soon, skies will be blue, grass green, and flowers will be popping up. I'm waiting for Spring!

Never underestimate the benefit of a work week evening art project. I had a smile on my face as I worked on this one. I think I love these fat fatty pastels. I would like to learn how to use them better though. Here is my picture that looks like a 10 year old did it. Maybe someday, I'll be able to do more adult like stuff. In the meantime, the stress has left. I'm happy.

Okay, I have a thing about using crayons and pressing really hard. It's very cleansing for me. And yes, I promised (to myself)that I would post the really bad and stupid stuff as well as stuff that shows improvement. (keeping me humble, no reason to brag here) So, voila, crazy rooster in pastel (I have a kit with limited colors of pastel, no red, and no black, what the!) and my crayons are getting worn down now.

This picture was too complicated for me from the start. I couldn't sketch quite right, as the steps and the building fade off into the distance. I don't think this one is very good. I tried to use a very dry brush to indicate a rough texture or peeling paint on the walls of the buildings, but other than that, it doesn't really indicate that I did anything new or learned anything. Asi es la vida. It was still fun though.

Here are some Moroccan type buildings, etc. It felt very good to sit down and do this one. Just pressing hard with the crayon helped me releive a lot of stress. I painted red acrylic over it, and then rinsed it off. Work week art can be fun. It helps me get back to myself, the tranquil, happy and serene self, I like. I don't really like my other self, or what I become during the work week. A midweek art project, can cleanse me of all the bad stuff.
